Art of the Start” is my latest read – it is by Guy Kawasaki (renowned Mac Evangelist). Guy is now a venture capitalist with his own company and he offers some great advice on how to start a company. You might wonder why I am reading this book now that I am no longer employed and the answer is “No, I am not starting my own company”, at least not right now. But I am planning on spending some of my time off devoted to figuring out what I want to do next – and that includes researching how to start a company.
Guy’s writing style is very direct – I am only about 60 or so pages into it and he has already illuminated many areas where many entrepreneurs fall down in the startup process. I could see this being a bible if I did end up trying to start a company some day. The stuff on how to pitch is priceless and it comes from someone who has heard a ton of pitches. I will report back once I finish the book (should only be a week or so – it is a brisk read).
Huh, well, I went ahead and bought it from amazon – it showed up yesterday. So, hopefully I can read it over the next week. 🙂 I also bought another of his books, so that it would qualify for super saver shipping. Don’t remember what it’s called tho….
