I have lots of juggling balls – well over a hundred in total. I have collected them over the years from various sources – some are hand sewn, some light up, some bounce really well. There is one set that I particularly cherish – it is a set of Flying Clipper brand juggling bags that I bought in Eugene over 15 years ago (shown above). I actually went to the owner Jim Fitzgerald’s house and he had them sitting around somewhere. They are made of ultra-suede which is washable simulated suede. They are an 8 panel design with plastic pellets and aquarium rock for filler. The really cool thing about the balls is that they are machine washable – something I have done several times over the years. They have seen a lot of travel and use over the years and have held up incredibly well.
I recently decided that I would like to get some more of the balls and I contacted Jim at Flying Clipper. He did not have anything quite like them and offered to make some custom for me. I sent him two of the old balls as examples along with some ultra-suede I had purchased off of EBay. Using the same pattern and materials he was able to make 18 more balls of the same type as my originals. They are, in my opinion, the best and most durable juggling bags I have ever used. They have great feel and are so easy to clean up in the washing machine. I am looking forward to using these for a long time to come!
